To Open... Our Hearts United in Purpose

In this meditation on collective healing, rescued plastic pieces that once littered coastlines come together, forming a heart at the center of the canvas. These carefully selected fragments of ocean debris transform neglect into nurture, indifference into action. The heart is surrounded by a textured field of sand and cool blues echoing shore, water, and sky, this mixed media artwork pulses with quiet determination.

Each positioned fragment tells its story of redemption. Soft oranges carry warmth of reflected sunsets, and some gentle off-whites gleam like shells. Amid the plastic debris shaped into this symbolic heart, the embossed directive To Open, Press Down and Turn, stubborn vestiges of a decomposing cap, rises as an inadvertent teacher, inviting viewers to open hearts and turn toward a personal environmental awakening.

Beach cleanup groups and independent earth-keepers gathered these pieces allowing for further transformation that embodies unity and hope. This artwork pays homage to the countless volunteers who choose to see possibilities amid challenges.

This is art born of action, proof that when we open our hearts to purpose, even the smallest gestures ripple outward into waves of meaningful change that can heal both ocean and spirit.
