The Gathering Current: Unity in the Flow of Things

This mixed media artwork features hundreds of plastic fragments arranged in dual spirals across a painted canvas. The luminous spiral, filled with bright yellows, oranges, and whites, represents materials floating at the ocean's surface, catching light as they drift with the currents. Surrounding darker passages, populated with deeper blues, greens, and burgundies, reveal the unseen journey these fragments take below the surface, where the majority of ocean debris ultimately settles.

The plastic pieces used in this work were collected and sorted by dedicated volunteers over years from shorelines. The artist has transformed these found materials into a meditation on ocean currents and environmental awareness.
